Read this short Economic Policy Institute article which says unemployment for US-born workers is up as the result of deportations for at least these three reasons:
- immigrants are consumers – so spend money
- immigrants and US-born jobs often compliment one anothers
- fewer care-givers means family members must move into the caregiving role and work less
